How we use your Personal Data

We will use your personal data for the following actions:

  • We may publish information about the number of journeys you make and the distance you have travelled. Only the name you entered during registration could identify you to other users.
  • Send you information about the Service by email. You can unsubscribe from these emails at any point.
  • Use your journey information to produce aggregated reports. These would not identify any individual user.
  • Publish information about the aggregated usage of the app and website.
  • Enter you into the regular (monthly or bi-monthly) Prize Draws if you have logged sufficient distance along the PedalAid cycle routes. We would publish your app username if you are selected as a winner.
  • Improve the Service based on your feedback.

Log Data

We want to inform you that whenever you use the PedalAid app, in a case of an error in the app we collect data and information (through third party products) on your phone called Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your device Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, device name, operating system version, the configuration of the app when utilising our Service, the time and date of your use of the Service, and other statistics.

In addition, we may use third party services such as Google Analytics that collect, monitor and analyze this type of information in order to increase our Service’s functionality. These third party service providers have their own privacy policies addressing how they use such information.

Location Information

A core feature of the PedalAid app is that it logs the distance you cycle along the defined PedalAid route. Distance travelled contributes to the ‘charity challenge’ total and is used to display the app leaderboards. In order to do this we take intermittent location readings. The frequency of these readings increases when you are on the cycle route or close to it. Location readings are posted to our servers where we anlyse them to extract journeys made along the route.

You can control whether location readings are made automatically or manually from the app dashboard. If ‘Automatic journey tracking’ is disabled you will see a ‘Start / Stop’ button that determines when location readings start and stop.

You can also enable or disable location services when you use our Service at any time, through your device settings.

The Isle of Wight Council will have access to aggregated location information. No data provided to the Isle of Wight Council will be personally identifiable.
