Our charity of the month for October w Wessex Cancer Trust which provides emotional and practical support for Isle of Wight people affected by cancer. Services offered from their support centre in Lugley Street, Newport, ranges from professional counselling and befriending to complementary therapies, such as massage and reiki.
They also provide a free bus service – The Daisy Bus – to take Island cancer patients to their hospital appointments on the mainland. These buses complete around 10,000 passenger journeys each year. It costs £2,300 a month to run the Daisy Bus service.
After beating the 3,000km target with a final total of 3,056km, a donation from PedalAid will go towards these running costs.
